Pineapple Smoothie Tips

Can you use fresh pineapple instead of frozen?

Yes, you can use fresh pineapple instead of frozen, but be prepared for a change in texture and consistency. If you like your smoothies on the thicker, frostier side, you may want to throw in some ice cubes in with the fresh pineapple.

Can you use different kinds of milk in your pineapple smoothie?

You can use any kind of milk in your pineapple smoothie. Feel free to swap in whole milk if you like your smoothies creamier, or use dairy-free milk if you're lactose intolerant (or just prefer the taste). Check out our definitive ranking of nondairy milks if you're unsure of which direction to go.

What else you can add to a pineapple smoothie?

There's no shortage of ingredients or ways to add protein to smoothies that will amp up the flavor and boost the amount of nutrients. Throw in tasty additions such honey, maple syrup, almond butter, chia seeds, spinach, kale, yogurt or even other types of fresh or frozen fruits.

Can you make pineapple smoothies ahead of time?

It's possible to turn your drink into a make-ahead smoothie for easier assembly in the morning. Start with a freezer-safe resealable bag, and fill it with 2 cups of cubed pineapple, a sliced banana and any other fruits or veggies you'd like. Freeze the bag of ingredients until the next time you want a smoothie. When you're hungry, just dump them into the blender, add the milk and honey, and blend!
