Easy Salsa Recipe

Cooking is especially fun when you're making a favorite snack that tastes better than the store-bought version. Garden tomatoes and onions make this homemade salsa so much better than salsa from a jar.—Mikel Chapman, Helena, Oklahoma
TOTAL TIME: Prep: 10 min. + chilling YIELD:18-20 servings


  • 4 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chunky salsa
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup canned chopped green chilies, optional


  • 1. In a large bowl, combine the tomatoes, onion, salsa, salt and pepper. Add the chilies if desired. Cover and refrigerate for several hours. Yield: 4-1/2 to 5 cups.
