Curried Beef Pitas with Cucumber Sauce

A good friend gave me this recipe when I first got married. I was a bit apprehensive to try it since the ingredients weren't that familiar to me, but, years later, it's now one of our family favorites. —Shannon Koene, Blacksburg, Virginia
Ingredients

1 cup fat-free plain Greek yogurt

1 cup finely chopped peeled cucumber

1 tablespoon minced fresh mint

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons snipped fresh dill

2 teaspoons lemon juice

1/4 teaspoon salt

PITAS:

1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)

1 small onion, chopped

1 medium Golden Delicious apple, finely chopped

1/4 cup raisins

2 teaspoons curry powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

8 whole wheat pita pocket halves
Directions

In a small bowl, mix the first seven ingredients. Refrigerate until serving.

In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until beef is no longer pink; crumble beef; drain. Add apple, raisins, curry powder and salt; cook until apple is tender, stirring occasionally. Serve in pita halves with sauce.
