Followed the recipe with the exception of 1/4 cup of hoisin sauce and I used a pinch od red pepper flakes instead of the cayenne. I also thicken the sauce with a little cornstarch. It was great. My popcorn chicken stayed crispy...will definitely make again

why can't the recipe be totally homemade? Popcorn chicken? I can't get that where I live...

This was not our family's favorite. Like others said, we didn't care for the sauce. And, after being stirred into the sauce, the chicken was no longer crispy. I am glad I tried the recipe as it gave me ideas for future meals making a sauce on my own. On the positive side, it was easy to put together.

I loved this recipe, I will cook this over and over. I cut chicken into smaller pieces and floured them and cooked them in my new air fryer. Then made the orange sauce. Linda Q.

Whether you choose to use prepackaged chicken or opt to make it from scratch is personal choice. I've done it both ways and it's a big hit here. Easy, simple ingredients and quick prep time, especially if using frozen popcorn chicken. Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner! Thanks for sharing! One star ratings without ever trying recipes is pointless.

Sorry Snowyval - but I agree with Penny - your one star review was down-right wrong. I made this recipe and used fresh chicken breasts that I cut into 1" pieces. Why? Because I am highly allergic to MSG and most pre-packed foods have that in them in one form or another - so I tend to cook from scratch most of the time. And I also don't want to end up in the hospital. The dish was delicious. I baked the chicken pieces into into little popcorn chicken pieces as DDPLoeches said she did. I also did nix on the hoisin sauce and used soy sauce and that worked out fine. I served the carrots on the side with white sticky rice. The carrots were almost as big a hit as the chicken. Will definitely make this again.

To snowyval.....if you don't like prepackaged chicken.....DON'T USE IT.......but to give a recipe you never even tried a single star because of lazy attitude is just.....wrong

I don’t like starting a recipe with pre-package chicken.

While my family does fine with hoisin sauce, I opted considered the reviews. Due to our family size, I doubled the recipe but didn't double the hoisin sauce. It was indeed very orange-y but that was exacerbated by my "sous chef" being a little over zealous with grating the orange peel. We will definitely make this again.
