Cranberry-Walnut Oatmeal

My family loves cranberries but we can get them fresh only during the holiday season. This recipe lets us enjoy the tartness of cranberry with the comfort of oatmeal all year long. —Teena Petrus, Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Ingredients

  • 3-1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole-berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Directions

  • 1. In a large saucepan, bring water and salt to a boil. Stir in oats. Cook 1 minute over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • 2. Remove from heat; stir in sugar and vanilla. Top servings with cinnamon sugar, cranberry sauce and walnuts.
