Crab-Stuffed Jalapenos

“This is always a hit when my husband and I bring them to parties. They're especially great for sporting events and always seem to compliment the other food being served," says Susan Dugat of Rockport, Texas.
  • Total Time
Prep: 25 min. Bake: 40 min.
  • Makes
    2 dozen

Ingredients

  • 24 large jalapeno peppers
  • 6 ounces fat-free cream cheese
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 package (8 ounces) imitation crabmeat, chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
  • 12 turkey bacon strips, halved widthwise

Directions

  • Cut stems off jalapenos; remove seeds and membranes; set aside. In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder until blended. Stir in crab and cheese.
  • Transfer to a resealable plastic bag; cut a small hole in a corner of the bag. Pipe filling into jalapenos. Wrap each with a piece of bacon; secure with toothpicks.
  • Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 40-50 minutes or until peppers are crisp-tender.

I'm not a big fan of jalapeño poppers, but my husband loves them! HOWEVER, this recipe changed my mind...these are delicious!! Mild crab flavor, mixed with the bacon and cream cheese = YUM! What's not to love? Not spicy hot (big plus for me!) but just enough for flavor.

A lot of work, but definitely worth it. They're even good cold the next day even though, at that point, they look terrible.

My husband is so proud of himself when he makes a batch of these for a gathering! We have been making these for a few years now and everyone loves them! He is always asked to make more for the next function! We sometimes substitute baby bell peppers for the jalapeno's for those folks who can't handle a little heat. We also partially cook regular pork bacon before wrapping around peppers to bake. We don't care for turkey bacon..We often stuff them the night before and wrap & bake just before serving.

Awesome appetizer!!!! I have played around with this recipe a bit. substittuting the crab with minced baby belles, celery and pinch of red onion. Also if you freeze them over night they are very easiy to cook on the grill!! thnx for the great recipe

Instead of stuffing a whole jalapeno, I halved them. Chopped up the bacon and mixed it into the filling instead of wrapping. VERY good - made them for Christmas; the family loved them!

Wow, is all I can say. I make these without the crab & they were good...now, they are GREAT.

Too much trouble and too bland tasting. Not worth it!
