Country Beef Patties Recipe

When my family wants a down-home dinner, this is the recipe they usually request. Bacon in patties gives a subtle smoky flavor, while tomato gravy adds a little zip.—Bernice Morris, Marshfield, Missouri
TOTAL TIME: Prep: 15 min. Cook: 1 hour YIELD:4 servings

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 uncooked bacon strips, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 to 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1. In a bowl, combine beef, bacon, onion, salt and pepper. Shape into four oval patties; brown in a skillet over medium heat. Remove patties and keep warm.
