Corny Turkey Burgers Recipe

If you like spicy food, you'll love these burgers! When I added the jalapeno pepper to my regular turkey burgers and served them with the sauce, they were a hit. You can also grill them.
TOTAL TIME: Prep: 10 min. Cook: 15 min. YIELD:4 servings

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 to 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 to 4 drops hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • SAUCE:
  • 1 cup fresh corn, cooked
  • 1 cup picante sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

  • 1. In a medium bowl, combine the first nine ingredients; mix well. Shape into four patties. Heat oil in skillet; fry patties over medium heat for about 4 minutes per side or until done.
  • 2. Heat sauce ingredients in a small saucepan; serve over burgers. Serve on hamburger buns if desired. Yield: 4 servings.
Editor's Note: Wear disposable gloves when cutting hot peppers; the oils can burn skin. Avoid touching your face.

"All of the deep flavors really boost the ground turkey. For added taste, I mashed up an avocado and spread that on the (toasted) buns before serving. Big thumbs up!"
