Reviews for Corn Bread
"It was okay. I gave it 3 stars primarily because of the ease. The lack of flavor had me considering 2 stars but that seems harsh since it was good, just not what I'm looking for."
"I almost didn't make this recipe because of the 1, 2 and 3 star ratings. I am so glad I tried it anyway because it is the best cornbread I have ever made! I made a huge pot of Spicy Touchdown chili, and decided it needed corn bread. Well, too often cornbread is too dry. This recipe was more bread-like, and I all my guests (men and women both) said it was the best they ever had and wanted more. Unfortunately I only made enough for everyone to have two, and I wish I had made more because I wanted more as well."
"This is definitely one of the best cornbread recipes I've had. Even the leftovers were moist! I did get a bit worried when my batter wouldn't "pour" like recipe suggested and I ended up "spreading" the batter with a knife, but the end result.....Yummy!!"
"Pardon me, BabyblueeyesJacque, your comment sounds like you've never had TastyKake's sweet corn cakes. They are suitable for toasting, then spreading with sweet butter. They are so scrumptious, you should try them & not knock sweet cornbread."
"Good, basic corn bread recipe. I increase to 2 eggs. Makes the consistency less crumbly."
"I agree 100% with BabyblueeyesJacque. why on earth would anyone want to put sugar in their cornbread?? UUUGGGHHHH YUCKY! Maybe its just a southern thing. As far as the recipe. I loved it. Sure it was a tad bland, but my husband & I loved it just the same with black bean and ham soup! :) We used it to sop of the liquid :) YUMMMM! Recommend it anyday of the week WITHOUT SUGAR!!!!!"
"Seemed heavy w/limited flavor"
"This was just ok. Rather dry."
"Like others said, the recipe was a tad bit flavorless, but I used a cup of sugar instead and using sweet cream butter gave it a nice smooth taste."
"Several members of our fellowship raved about this cornbread. I doubled the ingredients but put in 1 cup of sugar and used veg. oil instead of butter."
"This is what 'real' corn bread should taste like. I might add a tad more salt next time. It isn't what you get in famous restaurants, they add cake mix to the cornbread mix. I will use this recipe from now on - no more boxed mixes. Not only is it delicous, it's so much healthier. Excellent recipe."
"i will definitely make this again!! it looked great and my parents loved it so much! super easy too!"
"This was great cornbread ! I used 1/4 c sugar and added an extra egg. Moist and tasty!"
"I loved the simplicity but it really lacks flavor. I would add more sugar or make some apple butter to go with this recipe."
"I had never made cornbread before and I decided to use this recipe...turned out good...will make again so I can improve!"
"Excellent! Very moist cornbread."
"easy to make. Tastes good."
"This was easy (I had all the ingredients!) and I added a 4 oz. can of diced green chilies. My husband ate 3 1/2 of the 9 pieces. Definitely a keeper!"
"I have tried this twice, the texture is spot on good, but it seriously lacks any flavor. Second time around I bumped up the sugar and used some honey butter, was a bit better.Try with added a bit more sweetness, or even some garlic and herbs and a bit of cheese"
"I have tried this twice, the texture is spot on good, but it seriously ;acks any flavor. Second time around I bumed up the sugar and used some honey butter, was a bit better."
"I have made this twice. It's very easy to make and is delicious!"
