This is a homemade version of our favorite steak sauce. We use it on steaks, chicken, pork and burgers, or as a dip for our fries. It's also wonderful for basting grilled chicken or for barbecue ribs. You could even add it to a marinade. —Erin Wright, Wallace, Kansas

Copycat 57 Sauce

Yield 1-1/2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard

Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over raisins in a small bowl; let stand 5 minutes. Drain. Transfer to a blender; add remaining ingredients. Cover and process until smooth. Strain if desired. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
