Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup apple jelly, melted and cooled
  • 3 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup Wheaties
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions

In large bowl, combine the applesauce, egg whites and jelly. Combine dry ingredients; add to applesauce mixture. Stir in the remaining ingredients.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Flatten slightly. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks to cool. Yield: 3 dozen.
