This recipe is special to me because it is my children's favorite. My son loves brownies and my daughter loves crumb cake, so I created these to launch world peace in my house. My children bring me great joy and I am glad to return some of that joy with these easy, but special treats.

Ingredients

  • Crumb Topping:
  • 1 stick butter (cold)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Brownies:
  • 2 sticks butter (melted)
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup flour

Directions

Topping:
In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, brown sugar and cocoa powder. Cut cold butter(1stick) into mix, and with hands form into crumbs. Set aside.
Brownies:
In a large bowl, mix melted butter, sugar and cocoa powder until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time and mix well. Stir in flour. Grease a 9x13 pan and pour brownie batter in. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes, then sprinkle crumbs over brownies and bake additional 10-15 minutes until crumbs look done. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Yield: serves 10
Notes: Chocolate lovers: Melt some milk chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and drizzle on top of the crumbs. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and let them taste the love.
