  • 3 cups chopped peeled tart apples
  • 1-1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries, thawed
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cold butter, cubed
  • Vanilla ice cream, optional

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, combine apples, cranberries, 1/4 cup brown sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking dish. In a small bowl, mix flour and remaining brown sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over fruit.
  2. Bake, uncovered, 25-30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly. If desired, serve with ice cream.
Sugared Cranberries
Heat 3 tablespoons light corn syrup in microwave until warm; gently toss with 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, allowing excess syrup to drip off. Toss in 1/3 cup sugar to coat. Place on waxed paper; let stand until set, about 1 hour.
