Chili Mac Recipe

Chili Mac Recipe

This recipe has regularly appeared on my family menus for more than 40 years, and it's never failed to please at potlucks and bring-a-dish gatherings. Sometimes I turn it into soup by adding a can of beef broth. —Marie Posavec, Berwyn, Illinois

"Made a double batch, added some extra chili powder, and red pepper flakes for a kick. It came out great! Keeping this as a go to recipe for sure! Next time I might add a can of Rotel tomatoes with jalapenos as well.

For people looking for the hot beans, check near the baked beans. Target sells a medium chili bean that I bought, which is why I added red pepper flakes."

"Psalm127-3 you'll find chili beans with the canned beans, they have seasoning added to them I know Bushes has a variety, Goya might too. Sometimes they're in with the canned baked beans as well.

Hope that helps,

"My family loves this easy supper. We dont like it too hot so I put red kidney beans in it. Also, I put diced tomatoes with chilies in it. I use wheat noodles instead of white to make it a little healthier. Serve with cheddar cheese, sour cream and maybe a sandwich! Great way to warm up on a cold day!"

"Definitely a winner in my house! I substituted kidney beans for the hot chili beans since I have small children, but it was really good! A little cheese on top and it's a meal!"

"This was a "hit" with my family of 8. We didn't have green peppers nor the hot chili beans. I used two cans of hot chili and omitted the chili seasoning. As it looked very thick I added a can of beef broth. It turned out excellent."

"This was a great recipe. I altered it a bit for our taste- we didn't use the green peppers, we used mild chili beans instead of hot, and I added 1 can of diced tomatoes to it. It turned out great! Also, when it was done we topped with some cheddar cheese. For us, it fed about 7-9 people (each having a small bowl full). I bet I'll be making this again! Maybe with an extra box of elbow macaroni next time."
