Cherry Coke Meatballs

From the kitchen of our field editor, Kizmet Byrd of Fort Wayne, Indiana: This recipe is a crowd-pleaser that's perfect for game days and parties. Your guests will love the sweetness of the cherry cola and the addition of Gustus Vitae spicy chocolate cinnamon cane sugar. It makes 15 large meatballs or 24 small meatballs.


  • Sauce Ingredients
  • 1 (12 oz.) can cherry cola
  • 1 Cup of Ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp. Tomato Paste
  • 2 Tbsp. Gustus Vitae spicy chocolate cinnamon cane sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Hoisin (or Soy Sauce)
  • 1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
  • Meatball Ingredients
  • 1 lb. Ground Chuck
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • ½ Cup Italian Bread Crumbs
  • ½ Cup Grated Parmesan (or Romano) Cheese
  • 1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp. Onion Powder
  • ½ Tsp. Kosher Salt
  • ½ Tsp. Black Pepper


  • Preheat oven to 350° and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large pot, add in the cherry cola, ketchup, hoisin sauce, tomato paste, spicy chocolate cinnamon sugar, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk all ingredients and set pot aside.
  • In a large bowl, add ground chuck, egg, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Form mixture into golf ball-size meatballs. Add meatballs to sheet pan and bake for 20 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Place pot with sauce ingredients on stove, add meatballs to sauce and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes, occasionally spooning sauce over meatballs.
