Cheeseburger ‘n’ Fries Casserole

- 2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed golden mushroom soup, undiluted
- 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
- 1 package (20 ounces) frozen crinkle-cut french fries
- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in soups. Pour into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish.
- Arrange french fries on top. Bake, uncovered, 50-55 minutes or until the fries are golden brown.
Nutrition Facts1-1/2 cups: 352 calories, 17g fat (5g saturated fat), 62mg cholesterol, 668mg sodium, 25g carbohydrate (1g sugars, 2g fiber), 25g protein.

I made some changes to the original recipe and it came out pretty tasty. I shredded some onion into the beef and it was cooking. I also took a few pickle spears and gave them a rough dice and mixed them into the cheese soup. I also omitted the mushroom soup mix since my kids won't touch them. I finished it all off with a little squirt of ketchup that I mixed in. Will be making this one again!

I am giving this 5 stars BUT I added Johnny's Seasoning to it and that's what made the huge difference. Even my 10 year old daughter said this was a "do-over".

I've been making this since my kids were little (now my Grandkids eat it) and it's a good basic recipe that you can tweak to your own tastes, as written it definitely needs jazzing up. I use 85/15 ground beef and brown it first by itself (no need to pour off any of the seasonings with the fat) then spoon off some but all of the fat. When I add the soups I also include 8 strips of thick sliced bacon which has been diced and cooked til crisp, 1 Tb yellow mustard, 1 tsp dill weed, 1/4 cup finely diced onion, 1/2 tsp granulated garlic, 1/2 tsp black pepper and 1/2 tsp Wrights liquid hickory smoke for a BBQ'd flavor. I Sprinkle seasoned salt to taste on the fries before putting them on the meat/soup mixture. After I dish mine up I put some ketchup on the fries and I think it tastes like the best diner comfort food ever.

I was skeptical reading this recipe, but after all the positive reviews, I thought I would give it a try. Unfortunately, we didn't find it very tasty. The kids ate it, but was just all right. Also does not reheat well. I won't be making it again. i'm glad others enjoy it, though.

@cwbuff2 If you think 90/10 is too greasy, you must never eat hamburger? You could use 93/7, Walmart has it all the time. But if you do be prepared for a tasteless meal.I used frozen Arby's Curly Fries because they have a nice mixture of spices. Vidalia onion chopped up is always a good idea.

One of my family's favorite quick meals since it first appeared in QC in May 1998! I've always used 1 to 1 1/2 lbs ground beef even when all of our six children were home. Just added a few more fries & a salad & dessert & it was plenty for all of us! Fast & easy!

Very quick and easy main dish. I added corn on the cob for a side and my family loved it!

I made this recipe for 2, so cut out 1 pound of hamburger and the mushroom soup. Added some minced onion and some shredded cheese before putting on the fries. Still made in a 9 X 13 pan.

very good. I use tater tots instead of fries we like it better that way and I add some vegetables.

This is quick, easy, and surprisingly good! I think, however, that it should stand 5-10 minutes after being taken out of the oven to solidify. Also, don't use hamburger which is too fatty, as the grease will make the dish too mushy.
