Caramel-Pecan Apple Slices Recipe

Here's a warm, decadent side dish for fall or winter brunches. Ready to eat in only 15 minutes, the apples are also good alongside a pork entree or spooned over vanilla ice cream. —Carol Gillespie, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
TOTAL TIME: Prep/Total Time: 15 min. YIELD:6 servings


  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large apples
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted


  • 1. In a large skillet, cook and stir the brown sugar and butter over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and butter is melted.
  • 2. Cut each apple into 16 slices; add to brown sugar mixture. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat for 5-7 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in pecans. Transfer to a serving bowl. Serve warm. Yield: 6 servings.
Editor's Note: To toast nuts, bake in a shallow pan in a 350° oven for 5-10 minutes or cook in a skillet over low heat until lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
