Brown Sugar & Banana Oatmeal
- 2 cups fat-free milk
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 large ripe banana, sliced
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Additional fat-free milk or ground cinnamon, optional
- 1. In a small saucepan, bring milk to a boil; stir in oats. Cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- 2. Stir in the banana, brown sugar, honey and cinnamon. Serve with additional milk and cinnamon if desired.
1 cup (calculated without additional milk): 215 calories, 2g fat (0 saturated fat), 3mg cholesterol, 71mg sodium, 42g carbohydrate (19g sugars, 4g fiber), 10g protein.
Nov 19, 2019It’s worth a try. I think it’s a little too sweet. I think the honey OR brown sugar would be sufficient. I omitted cinnamon. Overall a tasty, fairly healthy recipe.

I made this on Saturday. I used unsweetened almond milk instead of cow's milk. I also added a tablespoon of peanut butter for some added flare. I omitted the sugar and honey and just used maple syrup. I also used regular old fashioned oats. Winner winner!

What is a good substitute for the cinnamon

This is exactly what I was hoping for. I have made it 3 mornings in a row. It is so good! I topped it with dried cranberries and pecan pieces.

It wasn't bad, but wasn't good. I am only 12 and I might have messed up the ingredients but it's still ok ;)

So delish! I like a few less bananas, though. Almost doesn't need extra sweetener.

Very quick and easy. My family loved it. I didn't have bananas So I used 1/2 cup applesauce. Although we love bananas So next time I'll use that.

My kids really liked this and scraped their bowls clean!! I often turn to instant oatmeal packets for quick breakfasts before school, but this is very "do-able" on a weekday morning and I feel better about feeding it to my kids. Keeper!!
