Beef Nacho Pie Recipe
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1-1/2 cups crushed nacho-flavored tortilla chips, divided
- 1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
- 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
- 1. In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and taco seasoning. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
- 2. Meanwhile, separate crescent dough into eight triangles; place in a greased 9-in. pie plate with points toward the center. Press onto the bottom and up the sides to form a crust; seal perforations.
- 3. Sprinkle 1 cup chips over crust. Top with meat mixture. Carefully spread sour cream over meat mixture. Sprinkle with cheese and remaining chips. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting. Yield: 6-8 servings.
Reviews for Beef Nacho Pie
"Big hit with my two girls. Great flavor and easy to make. This is a keeper!!!"
"I liked the flavor overall but the taco chips were soggy. Next time I would skip putting them on the bottom of the crust and just on top. This is a good base recipe that can easily be modified to individual taste."
"With all the glorious reviews before mine, I must have done something wrong because this was a definite "ick" for us. I know I used only 2 Tbsp of taco seasoning as written in the recipe, but that flavor was overpowering. Perhaps it was the particular brand of taco seasoning? The beef Nacho pie I made was a disappointing dinner flop."
"Used 1 cup mild picante /salsa in place of tomato sauce, but followed the recipe as written otherwise. This is really good! Will definitely make this again,"
"Everyone but the kids liked this so it works out. Made modifications for what I had, used can of fire roasted tomatoes w/chilies instead of sauce, didn't have sour cream. And the kids got into the bag of Doritos so used those sparingly. topped with lettuce, tomatoes and avocado. Was really good would make again."
"My family really enjoyed this dish! Simple to make with great texture and flavor. I will be making this again!"
"This meal was a homerun with my husband! I'll definitely be making this again soon."
"This is my husbands most requested recipe! My three boys love it too. We also top it with fresh diced tomatoes and sliced olives before serving. Thanks for sharing the recipe that has become a family favorite!"
"My family LOVES this... with some flavor modifications. I used salsa instead of tomato sauce and added a small can of green chilies. Served it with shredded lettuce & diced tomatoes. It takes longer to smush the crescent rolls together than to mix up the rest of it."
"Not too bad. I added a drained can of corn to the meat mixture before simmering. I think it definitely helped. I might try adding the sour cream after baking next time."
"Zowie! What flavor when I used 1 1/2 tablespoons Trader Joe's taco seasoning! Makes chapped lips burn. Had to add a bit more tomato sauce and diced tomato juices for grass-fed beef. Skipped the onion & the first chips layer. Trader Joe's crescent rolls are kosher, yay. Very good flavor, yum."
"Yummy easy will make again"
"I will definitely be making this one again. Delicioso!"
"Surprisingly easy to prepare and quite tasty too. My husband commented that it was delicious! Nice combination of flavors. Will definitely make again."
"I have made this several times and my very picky husband loves it!!"
"easy to put together & kids loved it too!"
"It is very tasty. This dish is real taste of home. Love it. I did some changes. My kids don`t like spicy hot so I put less taco seasoning and I rolled a circle from crescent dough instead of dealing with eight triangles. And I crushed chips for top. My husband had this pie with picante sause and liked it very much."
"The Kids and grandkids loved this meal. I will be making it again next week only this time I have to make two. We also added lettuce and tomatoes on top after it was cooked."
"easy, great tasting, we really enjoyed this."
"I thought my husband wouldn't like it but he thought it was great! Yes, I will make it again. Especially during hay making time."
"Next time I'm going to add green chiles, diced tomatoes and black olives! There are so many things that could be thrown in with this even though its great just the way it is!"
"I have made this dish numerous occasions and shared it with friends which they have also grown to love&share with their friends and families!"
"I make this recipe but do not use crescent roll crust..I make a thin cornmeal crust and only use crushed chips on top. Still yummy"
"I made this along with the zesty corn and beans and the mexican rice for company who are excellent cooks. Everyone loved this recipe and the others but this was their favorite. It is a new family recipe for sure. I will be making it again soon."
"I think the only thing I can say is WOW...everyone needs to try this one"

"haven't made it yet, but looks gooooooooooood."
"Excellent! easy! Fast! Made it exactly as given in the recipe. Looks just like the picture. Serve on a bed of shredded lettuce with hot sauce on the side."
"This is delicious! I will definitely make it again. I only had tortilla scoops in the house so I used those and sprinkled extra taco seasoning on them.... I can't wait to try it with Doritos instead. Yummy!"
"Made it. Everyone keeps asking for it again."
"Excellent Dish!! I make this all the time!! Thanks so much!!Jennifer"

"This is really good and super easy! A definite keeper!"
