Ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate cake mix (regular size)
  • 1 can (16 ounces) chocolate frosting
  • 24 fudge-striped cookies
  • 24 milk chocolate kisses
  • White decorating icing

Nutritional Facts

1 cupcake: 284 calories, 14g fat (5g saturated fat), 27mg cholesterol, 249mg sodium, 37g carbohydrate (25g sugars, 1g fiber), 3g protein

Directions

  1. Prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions for cupcakes. Cool completely.
  2. Spread frosting over cupcakes. For bat wings, cut cookies in half; insert two cookie halves into each cupcake.
  3. Gently press chocolate kisses into frosting for heads. Add eyes with decorating icing. Yield: 2 dozen.

"Hi,

This is my recipe! 
I used a very sharp paring knife to cut the cookies in half.  It helps to cut them from the front. A few do break but those are fun to eat!
I agree, the cookie does take on moisture from the cupcake and the cookie gets soggy. If this bothers you, make them right before eating.
Remember- it is a cupcake!! It doesn't have to be perfect!!! Just have fun!!!

"Hi, I also tried to make this recipe but could not get the bat wings to look perfectly without cracking the cookie. How did others make it to work? Curious, what other type of cookies can you use without breaking it? Adorable bat cupcake but my son got frustrated and we decided not to use bats instead we used the cupcakes as "Witchy-ies" and I added the witchy hats. The children loved them just the same. Pls share your experience and share some tips on how to make these bat wings perfectly for future use. Thank you!"

"I found this to be a cute way to do cupcakes for halloween. However, I do not understand how the person got the scalloped look without breaking the cookie. And you must serve them soon or the "wings" will be soggy.

More detail needed in recipe directions in making the face etc."
