Basic Cooked Rice

Rice is a quick-to-fix accompaniment to any entree. Our home economists know that leftovers can easily be turned into tasty makeovers.

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter


  • In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat; let stand for 5 minutes.
