Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta Recipe

I try to make foods that are not only kid friendly, but are also easy to reheat since my husband works long hours and often eats later than our children. If you like, use reduced-fat cheese and ground turkey for a lighter version. —Melissa Stevens, Elk River, Minnesota
TOTAL TIME: Prep/Total Time: 30 min. YIELD:4-6 servings


  • 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 Jones Dairy Farm Dry-Aged Bacon strips, diced
  • 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
  • Barbecue sauce and prepared mustard, optional


  • 1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain and set aside.
  • 2. In the same skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove with a slotted spoon to paper towels to drain. Discard drippings. Drain pasta; add to the skillet. Stir in the soup, water, beef and bacon; heat through.
  • 3. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with cheese. Cover and let stand for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Serve with barbecue sauce and mustard if desired. Yield: 4-6 servings.

"I cooked the bacon first, left the grease in the pan and added a chopped onion and a green bell pepper. Saute that first then did my ground beef which I added some Worchestershire as it was cooking. At the end I added some BBQ sauce and some honey mustard dressing. Delicious! A keeper!"

"I recommend that you do not use tomato soup, but tomato sauce, it improves the taste a lot. I also suggest that everyone sprinkle on cheese to suit their taste because just one cup didn't suffice our family. It taste better with some seasoning on it. We don't use bbq sauce or mustard. Yum!"

"This recipe has a lot of potential - if you skip the tomato soup. I have made this once so far, and all I could smell and taste was the tomato soup. It was very unappealing. I added a bit of ketchup to it, and it was much better.

I plan to make this again, but use 8 oz. of tomato sauce instead of the tomato soup. and then either add ketchup or bbq sauce."

"I would make it again but add lots more ingredients to pick up the taste. Somehow the barbeque sauce and mustard didn't do it...definitely onion, garlic and probably some home made sauce. "Great Recipe! Time and taste is essential in my home. I doubled the recipe. I cooked one 16 oz box of "quick cooking" penne pasta.

I browned 1.5 lbs of hamburger with onion, pepper, salt, and garlic powder in one skillet and baked a whole package of bacon in the oven.
After the noodles were done I rinsed and put back in the pot, added 3 cans of tomato soup, a large squirt of both bbq sauce and mustard. I cut up the cooked bacon and added that also.
After adding a package of cheese - it was served with condiments. What a rave review from both of my children and husband. Super quick and easy and very tasty."

"I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did because I figured it was too easy to be much good. But it really was! I also caramelized some onions for my husband and I to put on top. The brand I used has 12 grams of sugar per serving, which gave the dish a little too much sweetness. Next time I try and find a soup that doesn't have so much sugar content."

"I also added onion, Worcestershire and garlic salt, but cooked the onion, hamburger and bacon all together. The extra grease helps saute the onion and crisp the bacon. Then I drained before adding pasta and sauces. Not too spectacular until you add the BBQ and mustard (I mixed in about 1/2 c BBQ and 1/4 c mustard), then did the cheese last. It was great for both my kids."

"This was really good. I added onion and garlic to the hamburger, I added a couple tbs of garlic worcestershire sauce, a dash of hot sauce and I used about 2TBS of honey mustard. I also used the pre-cooked bacon that you just pop in the microwave and its done, so much easier that way. I will definately make this again and again."

"This dish is very tasty. I made it for a get together yesterday and everyone loved it. I did make some changes after reading reviews previously posted. I used a pound of bulk Sweet Italian Sausage for the ground beef, I used 1/2 jar of real bacon pieces, to make it easier, added a chopped onion and garlic to the sausage when cooking, and used 2/3 cup Sweet Baby Ray's Vadalia Onion BQ sauce and 1 T. mustard.
