Reviews for Applesauce Barbecue Chicken
"Awesome flavour! A definite make again."
"For as simple as it is, it packs a lot of flavor. I will be making this over and over again for my man."
"Very tasty. Had this with a Caesar salad!!!"
"This is one of my family's favorite recipes. I love it because it comes together quickly and that you can change it up depending on your family. I typically use a barbeque sauce with a little more spice to it and I stead of chunky applesauce, I use whatever I have in the house. Either way, it's turned out well every time I've made it and both kids and adults have enjoyed it. Definitely in my rotation."
"Absolutely delicious!!! So easy to make!"
"Really good and so easy. Will definitely make this one again."
"Very good, just to sweet.I'll leave out the sugar next time."
"This is wonderful, I made it for my Son's friends birthday and everyone just raved about it. The recipe is so easy to make and it looks and tastes like you spent all day on it. I used a smoky BBQ sauce and it was good but I think I will try a different one next time. I used chicken thighs because I was having so many people over and it was more economical, it was still really good. Thank you for submitting this recipe it is a keeper."
"The sauce had a nice taste, the kids enjoyed it."
"It has a wonderful taste, my husband and son loved it!"
"easy to do taste great together will make it again"
"I made this last night, and we really enjoyed this recipe! I used no-sugar applesauce (the non-chunky kind), and Sweet Baby Ray's Original BBQ Sauce. We don't like things very spicy, so I only added 1/4 tsp chili powder. I also browned it on the stove, and baked it in the oven at 350 for about 20-25 minutes, as some other reviewers did. I shredded the remaining chicken breasts last night in the sauce, and am making pulled bbq chicken sandwiches tonight. I'll be making this again!"
"A little too tangy for my taste."
"I made this for the first time tonight , I didn't have chunky applesauce but it still turned out good using regular applesauce.I think I will try to make it again sometime when I have the right kind of applesauce."
"This chicken was awesome. Made it tonite along with the garlic parmesan orzo and the broccoli side dish recipie (also from this website). I also didn't have chunky applesauce so I took the advice of another and cut up a small apple and mixed in with regular applesaue. I browned the chicken on the stove but instead of finishing to cook it on the stove I decided to put it in a 350 degree oven and baked it the rest of the time which was about 20 mins. It really absorbed the flavors of the sauce. The six of us in my family really liked the flavor."
"This was a winner! Great fast weeknight dinner. Shared recipe with my mom. She can't wait to try it."
"great recipe me and the wife loved it"
"So good and so easy! I made it for my boyfriend and now he has the illusion that I can cook."
"I used chicken thighs and cooked these in a crock pot for 7 hours on low then shredded. Amazing"
"Yummy! I used regular applesauce and cut up a medium sized gala apple with the sauce. I only used about 2/3-3/4 teaspoon of chili powder because I was afraid it might be too spicy for my 2 and 5 year old. But it didn't seem spicy at all to me. I definitely make again!"
"My husband requests this all the time! We did find that there is no need for the brown sugar though. We use Mott's chunky applesauce and Kraft Thick and Spicy BBQ sauce, those are plenty sweet enough!"
"This recipe was delicious and soo easy to make. I couldn't find chunky applesauce, so I used regular applesauce & diced up some fresh gala apples which was delicious! Definitely a recipe to make when you're trying to impress or pressed for time! :) Definitely a keeper!"
"I was wrong...I used Sweet Baby Ray's Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce!"
"This was amazing. I made it just as written and it was terrific. I paired it with the New Potatoes with Dill. Great meal. Everyone loved it."
"I made as described but with 1/2 teaspoon chili powder and a regular barbecue sauce. My wife thought it was too spicy, It was about right for me. Overall a very nice flavor."
"This would be great in the crockpot!"
"I can only get my husband to eat chicken this way...SUPER good!"
"I actually did mine in the oven, as I didn't feel like standing over the stove to brown the meat; it turned out super, no leftovers of this dish!!"
"I'll be fixing this recipe soon but only have regular barbecue sauce. What spice can I add to make it spicy? Thanks."
"Made this for my family (and my very picky son) and it was a true hit! The flavor is very good and it kept the chicken very moist. I can see this sauce being used on pork chops, ribs, drumsticks, etc. and it being a 'go-to' sauce because of its ease to make. Great recipe! I also like that it is low in sodium per serving. Big hit!!"
"so tasty! Perfect!"
"We have made this several times and my three picky kids eat it everytime! Will be making this for a staff luncheon to share the deliciousness :)"
"Applesauce barbecue chicken is delicious and definitely a keeper. My family loves it and we make it any time we have all the ingredients."
"I think this would be even better with some apple slices or some diced up apple."
"This was good and easy to make. I substituted my own barbecue sauce recipe in place of the spicy barbecue sauce since I have a 2 year old. I also doubled the amount of applesauce, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar. My very picky 2 year old loved it! He ate every last bite!"
"this is so good & easy! My husband prepared it for me oneday when he was out of work KB"
"This is so good, and so easy. I don't handle spicy too well so I got a spicy honey bbq sauce. It wasn't too spicy at all. I've made this more than once."
"Made even better leftovers! Great recipe."
"Delicious!! Wouldn't change a thing!"
"I used drumsticks and baked it in the oven with the sauce. It was EXCELLENT, we loved it."
