Aniseed Loaf


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon aniseed


  • 1. In a large bowl, beat the sugar, honey and oil. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; add to sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Stir in aniseed.
  • 2. Pour into a greased 9x5-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.

    The licorice flavor comes through at just the right amount to make this a winner. Just like AWD before us - we loved it.

    Made two loaves for my mother in laws birthday and both adults and kids loved it. Its quick and easy and I will be making it again soon!
