Actual, I was always told that this is Southern Ambrosia. My family loves it!

Not exactly Ambrosia salad. But it is a good fruit salad. Better with chopped walnuts and Marciano cherries. Minus the bananas and cool whip instead of yogurt. It won't spoil with cool whip but will with yogurt. FYI.

Wendy no reason to be so harsh. There are many forms of Ambrosia Salad to personal taste. This actually sounds delicious. I make it another way and the original recipe as well. However I'm open to try another delightful form.

very good! Wendy, please take a deep breath...she can call her salad anything she chooses without your advice or permission.

Made as is and it is delicious. By the way, Wendy, check out the Food Network for ambrosia. The ingredients are pineapple, marshmallows, mandarin oranges, coconut, pecans, maraschino cherries, heavy cream and sour cream. Maybe there are other ways to prepare Ambrosia!

This salad is NOT Ambrosia. The only thing similar to actual Ambrosia are the marshmallows and coconut. Grapes? Yogurt? Bananas? Almonds? Cubed pineapple? Navel Oranges?--All NOT in Ambrosia. Name it something else.

I thought this was very tasty. My boyfriend does not eat a lot of fruit and I even got him to eat it. I had a lot leftover, but it was just a good when I ate some for breakfast this morning. The bananas did not even get brown or mushy.

This is based on the "6 cup salad" recipe.1 c each of canned pineapple/mandarin oranges/grapes/marshmallows/coconut/sour cream. This recipe is lighter and slighly different, using slightly different amounts of fresh fruits using yogurt and adding a banana & almonds.
