All Seasons Marinade Recipe

"This mixture is so versatile, it can be used to marinate just about anything," assures Joan Hallford of North Richland Hills, Texas. "I like to mix up a batch in a jiffy and keep it in the fridge for beef, pork, chicken or shrimp."
TOTAL TIME: Prep/Total Time: 10 min. YIELD:4 servings


  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ground mustard
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced


  • 1. In a small bowl, whisk all the ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Use as a marinade for beef, pork, chicken or shrimp. Yield: 2 cups.

"First, want to thank "IdahoGem1" for piquing my curiosity about Hawaiian Red Salt. Never heard of it before but it apparently has infused volcanic clay providing tasteless, yet valuable source of iron (helpful for me due to Hypothyroidism). In addition to added health benefits, Hawaiian Red Salt also apparently has milder salt flavor than Table Salt. Also, added Thyme after reading this TOH Community Member's review. Aside from adding Thyme, made 2 minor changes: omitted Garlic (due to son's sensitivity) and substituted Extra Light Tasting Olive Oil for Canola Oil (personal taste preference - tried Canola Oil in another TOH Marinade recipe but felt using Extra Light Tasting Olive Oil would have enhanced flavor for us). Marinated steak tips in large glass bowl in fridge for about 2 hours - husband grilled and brushed extra marinade on meat while grilling.

This marinade yielded the moistest, most delicious grilled steak tips!!! Made supermarket steak tips taste like butcher shop product!!! Even the pickiest of our kids wanted 2nds!!! Can definitely see how Garlic would compliment flavor (would use it if not for son's sensitivity - causes respiratory issues counteracted by antihistamines). Ordered some Hawaiian Red Salt (fine grain) and would definitely try substituting that for Table Salt next time as milder salt flavor would likely enhance other flavors (plus give added boost of iron!) - also considering substituting White Pepper for Black Pepper next time as milder pepper flavor would likely compliment ingredients similarly (hesitated this time wanting to follow original recipe as closely as possible).
Thanks for posting this wonderful marinade - definitely 5 stars for us!!! Can't wait to try with chicken - know it would be delicious on pork Tenderloin too!!! *Tried similar Marinade Recipe posted on TOH using Apple Cider Vinegar and optional Hot Pepper Sauce - definitely partial to this recipe using Red Wine Vinegar* :)"

"This was a hit in my house. First thing I heard was "This steak is awesome!". I changed the recipe slightly because I didn't need 2 cups and didn't have some of the ingredients. Here is what I did:

1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 fresh squeezed lemon
2 shakes of Worcestershire sauce (I'm not a huge fan, so a little goes a long way with me.)
1 tablespoons ground mustard
1 tsp dried Thyme
1-1/2 teaspoons fresh ground pepper
2 pinches of Red Hawaiian salt
4 garlic cloves, minced
Combine all ingredients in a zip-lock bag, add steak, close bag and place in refrigerator until ready. I let them sit for 3 hours."

"This recipe was awesome! We made steak and veggie kabobs with this recipe.I let this marinade sit on the veggies and sirloin for about 30 minutes. My husband brushed the excess marinade on during the grilling process. We couldn't stop eating them! I made a couple adjustments due to ingredients I had on hand and to make the recipe gluten free for my family. First, I used olive oil because that is what I had available. Next, I used a gluten free soy sauce. Also, if you are making this recipe gluten free you will want to verify the brands of Worcestershire and red wine vinegar are also gluten free. I am certain we will be making this again and soon. This is the perfect recipe for summer grilling!"

"Very good. I would definitely make this again. My husband and I are trying to eat healthier which means bumping up our salad intake and we marinated a ton of chicken on this and grilled it so we have a supply of tasty protein readily available for the week!"

"Without a doubt the best marinade I have ever made! I did add about 1/4 cup of brown sugar but not really needed. I used it for steak, chicken, and pork with great results.
