Put your campfire starter tools away! This air-fryer s'mores recipe takes the sweet treat inside thanks to everyone's favorite mini oven.

Air-Fryer S’mores

There’s no stopping a s’more craving when it hits, but building a whole campfire isn’t always in the cards. Sure, you could whip up a s’more-inspired dessert, but sometimes you just want the real thing. Enter in air-fryer s’mores.
As if we weren’t already obsessed with our air fryers and all the genius air-fryer recipes out there, this mini convection oven can even toast up two gooey s’mores in about two minutes. Best of all, you’ll need only the usual suspects: graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate. No odd, extra ingredients—only the good stuff to make s’mores in the air fryer.
Ingredients for Air-Fryer S’mores
- Marshmallows: Snip the marshmallows in half before cooking them. The sticky side needs to be sitting on the graham cracker so the marshmallow doesn’t blow away during cooking.
- Graham crackers: Honey Maid is the go-to brand for graham crackers, but you can really use any kind of graham cracker here. If needed, Schar and Pamela’s both make excellent gluten-free graham crackers.
- Chocolate: The way a Hershey’s bar is perforated makes for easy snapping and portioning. However, you can use any type of chocolate you like. Sometimes I like to sneak on a Symphony bar—I love the added almond and toffee bits, and since it’s owned by Hershey’s, the bar is perfectly perforated.
Directions
Step 1: Prep the air fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Place four graham cracker halves in the air fryer. Then, place a halved marshmallow, sticky side down, in the center of each graham cracker.
Step 2: Air-fry the s’mores
Cook until the marshmallows are melted and slightly browned, two to three minutes.
Editor’s Tip: Air-fryer times vary, and so do our preferences for how long marshmallows should be cooked. If your air fryer leans on the hotter side, check in after 30 seconds.
Step 3: Assemble the treats
Remove the graham crackers with marshmallows from the air fryer, then immediately place a chocolate piece on top of two of the marshmallows. Place the other cooked halves on top of the chocolate pieces to make two whole s’mores. Let the chocolate melt slightly, then serve them immediately.
Recipe Variations
- Try another cracker: Feel free to go rogue with your crackers. Gingersnaps, shortbread or any thin, crispy cookie will work here.
- Break out the sauces and spreads: There’s nothing that jazzes up a s’more quite like a smear of peanut butter, salted caramel, Nutella, dulce de leche, jam or Biscoff spread. Smear the addition on the piece of chocolate, then stick the chocolate on the cooked marshmallow.
- Add in fresh fruit: Sandwich fresh strawberry or banana slices into the s’more (after toasting) for a gourmet upgrade.
- Use your favorite chocolate: While the favorite for a s’more is Hershey’s, you really can use any type of chocolate here or your favorite chocolate bar or candy. Dark, milk, white, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, Reese’s peanut butter cups, cookies and cream bars … the choice is yours!
How to Store Air-Fryer S’mores
S’mores in the air fryer are best eaten as soon as they’re made, but if you really want to store any leftovers, let them come to room temperature and then place them in an airtight container. They can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
How do you reheat air-fryer s’mores?
If you saved any leftover s’mores and want to reheat them, I suggest zapping them in the microwave until heated through, 15 to 30 seconds. If you add them to the air fryer again, it may over-toast the marshmallow and burn the chocolate.
Air-Fryer S’more Tips
Why did my marshmallows blow off during cooking?
The most important step when making s’mores in the air fryer is cutting each marshmallow in half first, then placing the sticky side down on the graham cracker. The sticky side helps the marshmallow adhere to the graham cracker so it doesn’t immediately blow off while the air is circulating in the air fryer.
Can I line my air-fryer basket with parchment or aluminum foil?
Absolutely! If you’re nervous about any marshmallow runoff, feel free to line your basket with parchment or aluminum foil. Just make sure not to block the flow of air in the air fryer.
Why are my marshmallows burnt?
Air fryers, even the best air fryers, are all made differently. If your marshmallows burned, even in the lowest amount of time suggested, then you may just have a super powerful air fryer. Test just one s’more at a time until you find the sweet spot with your air fryer.
