Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 48 milk chocolate kisses
  • 48 Nutter Butter Bites

Directions

In a microwave, melt chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Spread the flat side of each kiss with a small amount of melted chocolate; immediately attach each to a cookie.
Cut a small hole in the corner of a pastry or plastic bag; insert a small round tip. Fill with remaining melted chocolate. Pipe a stem onto each acorn. Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets; refrigerate until set. Store in an airtight container. Yield: 4 dozen.

"I made these to take to a ladies lunch, and they were such a hit, both in appearance and flavor. They were popular, too, in the size. That makes them dangerous, if you ask me, but I know I'll be making these often for fall functions. I used dark chocolate kisses and dark chocolate chips for the stems because dark is better for you, and I didn't want to mess with piping."

"Super simple and so cute. My granddaughter enjoyed making these with me. The second time I made them I used mini vanilla wafers in lieu of the peanut butter cookies. I also made a batch using pumpkin spice kisses."

"I just made these this afternoon. It was so quick and easy and they turned out super cute! To make them look a little more like an actual acorn, I split the cookies and topped each kiss with half a cookie. I think it would taste better to use the whole cookie since you'd get more peanut butter flavor, but if you're just going for looks, half a cookie looks way better. I was going to use mini chocolate chips for the stem but didn't have any, so I just followed the instructions and piped them. A couple didn't look great, but I didn't have as much trouble as I thought I would with it. Will definitely make these again!"

"I sent this idea in, with photos, about a year before it was published. I came up with the idea years ago when my children were in grammar school. I used to make these little acorns, along with cupcake turkeys, throughout their grammar school days and still make them for our Thanksgiving celebrations. Everyone always loves them!

To KarenSaurer: The stem is piped onto the top of the cookie.
KatieJo: Using half a cookie makes the top of the "acorn" too thin, unlike a real acorn whose top is half of the whole acorn and, as noted, you lose much of the peanut butter flavor. Glad you like them, though :)"

"You could use Ritz Bits Peanut butter for a salty/sweet combo. Have not made these but thought they were Ritz until I read the recipe. I love they way they look and so easy too. Can't decide how I will make these for our gathering. So I gave it 1 star so I could write a comment. I would probably give it 5 stars after I make them up."
