Annually, Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11 to honor both our veterans and those who are actively serving in the military. In 2018, because this federal holiday falls on a Sunday, many schools, businesses, and government agencies will observe Veterans Day on Monday, November 12. There are a slew of restaurant chains that pay homage to these brave, selfless individuals by offering up Veterans Day free meals on either the actual holiday or the day it is largely being observed. Use this roundup of eateries to find out where you can order up a complimentary dish as a thank-you for your service. In most cases, all you need is some form of military ID.
Head over to this barbecue joint on either November 11 or November 12 for what Famous Dave’s refers to as a free “2 Meat Salute.” Choose from the tasty menu, which includes items like Sweetwater Catfish Fingers and Georgia Chopped Pork, then add a side and a cornbread muffin to complete the meal.
On Sunday, November 11, Acapulco will serve Veterans Day free meals to all veterans or current service members anytime from 3 p.m. until closing time. Although not available during brunch, the complimentary meal will be a three-item combo, chosen among tacos, enchiladas, taquitos, tamales and chile relleno.
According to veteransadvantage.com, there’s plenty to look forward to if you’re near a Bob Evans location on Veterans Day. The site reports that the chain is offering six free breakfast items all day, as well as select lunch and dinner options.

Applebee’s has proudly served up 8.3 million Veterans Day free meals to vets and active-duty military since 2008! The chain is continuing the tradition this year by offering a free meal to these folks on Sunday, November 11. According to its website, it expects to serve a million complimentary meals this year alone.
Chevys Fresh Mex
Over at Chevys, the restaurant will thank veterans and current service members with Veterans Day free meals that allow them to choose from three-item combos featuring tacos, enchiladas, flautas, tamales and chile relleno. Be sure to bring a valid military ID.
Veterans and current service members can snag Veterans Day free meals at El Torito with ease on Sunday, November 11. Simply produce a valid ID (like a U.S. Uniformed Services Identification Card or U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card) from 3 p.m. until closing. Delicious-sounding offerings include a three-item combo, with options including tacos, enchiladas, flautas, tamales and chile relleno.
El Torito Grill
At El Torito Grill, ordering your complimentary meal on Sunday, November 11, is similar to doing so at sister restaurants El Torito and Chevys, except the applicable dishes are a little different. The Veterans Day free meals consist of a choice among the following items: Two-Item Combo, Fajita Salad, Mesquite Grilled Chicken Tostada and Carnitas Yucatán. Again, remember to bring a valid ID.
Head on over to Chili’s, which is saluting veterans and active military members on Sunday, November 11, with a choice of meals from the special Veterans Day menu. Options include Chicken Crispers, Margarita Grilled Chicken and Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas. Call ahead to make sure your local Chili’s is participating in the Veterans Day free meals promotion.
Rock & Brews
Owned by rockers Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of Kiss, Rock & Brewssalutes veterans, active service members, and first responders with a meal on the house, according to ABC News Radio. Choose from the pulled-pork sandwich with a side dish or a “Strawberry Fields” salad. Depending on the location, other menu items may be included in the gratis deal, which is available on Monday, November 12.
