When it comes to fast-food restaurants, there are a few classics that come to mind. McDonald’s is a given, of course, considering they’ve been around since the ’50s. You can’t forget Taco Bell or Burger King, either. But I won’t deny it—my go-to fast-food place is always going to be Wendy’s.
However, it’s not as easy to find a Wendy’s outside of the US. For the second-largest burger chain in the States, that’s quite surprising! Don’t worry, though, because they’re making an expansion very soon.
Yup, Wendy’s UK Is Back
While most of us may not remember it, Wendy’s restaurants could be found across Europe as late as the ’70s. But then one by one…they all disappeared. There’s a couple reasons for this, but it mostly has to do with a legal battle against a certain European snack bar of the same name.
But now, Wendy’s UK is making its comeback! I’m sure Wendy’s fans across the pond have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. 400 new restaurants are set to open up nationwide—that means a potential of over 12,000 job openings. They’ll also have a British Wendy’s menu set to rival that of McDonald’s in the UK. Hopefully, they’ll get their own version of Wendy’s breakfast menu and the Strawberry Frosty!
Wendy’s has also confirmed that their famous Dave’s Burger, complete with square burger patties and all the fixins’, will make its way to the UK menu.
When Can I Get Wendy’s in the UK?
Locations are opening up as early as June 2021—yes, that’s next month! The official dates are as follows:
- Reading, June 2
- Stratford, latter half of 2021
- Oxford, latter half of 2021
Wendy’s has said it plans on opening at least a handful of restaurants this year with many more in the works. We can’t wait to see what’s on the Wendy’s UK menu!
