Wendy’s Just Revealed 6 New Frosty Flavors, and Fans Did Not See This Coming

Wendy’s is something of an oddball in the fast-food world. The chain serves square burgers, chili with baked potatoes and, instead of milkshakes, the iconic Frosty. The Frosty has been a Wendy’s staple since 1969, when Dave Thomas started the chain. For decades, the Frosty was only available in chocolate, but it has begun to evolve. The vanilla Frosty appeared in 2006, followed by a seasonal strawberry Frosty and peppermint Frosty.

Then, all of a sudden, new Frosty flavors started to appear rapid-fire, like the Girl Scouts Thin Mint Frosty and a Salted Caramel Frosty, both of which were delightful. Now, Wendy’s appears to have six new flavors in the works.

How is the Frosty changing?

Instead of releasing a single new flavor, customers will be able to concoct a unique Frosty with flavor swirls and fun mix-ins. Wendy’s is taking its Frosty in the direction of the McFlurry, and we can only hope they know how to keep the Frosty machines up and running.

Frosty Swirls

The Frosty Swirl will let customers pick a base Frosty (chocolate or vanilla) and swirl it with one of three sauces: strawberry, caramel or brownie batter. Your Frosty will also be topped with the syrup you choose, so there will be plenty of flavor. I can’t wait to dip my fries into that Frosty masterpiece!

You might remember that Wendy’s experimented with flavor swirls last year. Its Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty was flavored with a pineapple swirl, instead of being a pineapple-flavored Frosty. It looks like that was a test run for these Frosty Swirls.

Frosty Fusions

Frosty Fusions are in the same realm—with a slight difference. You’ll be able to add a sauce and a mix-in to the Frosty! Here’s a look at the official lineup:

• Pop-Tarts Strawberry Frosty Fusion: This one combines Wendy’s strawberry sauce with chunks of strawberry Pop-Tarts Crunchy Poppers pieces.
• Oreo Brownie Frosty Fusion: Oreo McFlurry, Wendy’s is coming for you! This Frosty is swirled with the chocolaty brownie batter sauce and has pieces of Oreo.
• Caramel Crunch Frosty Fusion: Simple and sweet, with crunchy toffee pieces and caramel sauce.

When do the new Frostys drop?

The Frosty Swirls launch in the Wendy’s app on April 11, then drop nationwide on April 15. The even-more-impressive Frosty Fusions drop on May 12. Based on the Wendy’s press release, it sounds like this is a permanent change to the menu!
