You Can Make Walt Disney’s Favorite Chili at Home

Walt Disney's chili recipe is magic in a bowl.

Disney has been on quite a delicious roll lately. The company has been releasing signature recipes for fans to re-create at home while the parks have been closed to visitors. Homemade Disney churros and Dole Whip, anyone? Well, we found Walt Disney’s chili recipe, too!

Disney Family was kind enough to publish the recipe online for everyone while we all hunker down at home.

Walt Disney Really Loved Chili

Simply called Walt’s Chili, his favorite meal is still served at the Carnation Cafe at Disneyland. The story goes that Walt was a man of simple tastes, and one of his favorite treats was a combination of two different brands of canned chili—one with more meat and one with more beans. He liked this dish so much it was what he ate at the studio along with saltine crackers and a glass of V-8.

In fact, Walt Disney loved this chili so much he traveled with cans of it, and would even have it served to him at restaurants with crackers he brought. That’s dedication!

Eventually, a family cook was able to perfect a chili recipe that fit Walt’s taste. It’s the ultimate blend of stewed beef and pinto beans, made even better with a dollop of sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese and diced tomatoes on top.
