Dust off your champagne flutes and prep the Christmas party appetizers: Aldi plans to sell a giant prosecco that could last all season long. The 6L Giotti Spumante Prosecco has as much bubbly as eight standard bottles—or enough to fill 64 glasses.
A standard bottle is 750 mL, but Aldi’s prosecco is a 6-liter monster also called a “methusela” or “imperial.” Let’s put that into perspective. You could have 30 guests at a party and serve everyone two glasses of sparkling wine. You could ration the prosecco throughout the 12 Days of Christmas, and drink five or more glasses per day and still not run out.
How Does the Prosecco Taste?
According to the tasting notes from Aldi, the Giotti Spumante Prosecco swings on the sweet side. You might even be able to detect notes of lemon zest, tangerine and pear. Like all prosecco, it’s also very bubbly. Perfect for the holiday season!
Where Can I Buy a Bottle?
You won’t be able to get your hands on one of these ginormous Giottis unless you live in the U.K. We’ve heard rumors from Aldi that this product would not be sold in the United States anytime soon. (But that’s what they said about the advent calendars, too.) The bottles of prosecco are available to buy online after November 14. They’ll sell for £80, which is around $105 in the U.S.
Even though you can’t buy the bubbly here, head to Aldi to pick up a standard 750 mL bottle of prosecco and make champagne cocktails for the holidays!
