Nearly three decades after it was first released, the Taco Bell Double Decker Taco is back on the menu.

Taco Bell Just Brought Back Its Famous Double Decker Taco

If you frequented Taco Bell in the late ’90s and early aughts, I have news for you. The Double Decker Taco has quietly returned to the menu! Like so many other discontinued Taco Bell items, we’re thrilled for this one to come back.
First seen on the menu in 1995, the Double Decker Taco came and went, then became a permanent item in 2006. The permanence only lasted until 2019, when it disappeared from the menu. Last December, the Double Decker Taco returned for a limited time, which is what’s happening this month.
When can I get a Double Decker Taco?
Paired with the comeback of Nacho Fries, the Double Deckers are doubling up on the nostalgia. Double Decker Tacos will be available at Taco Bell locations from October 10 through October 30. Once Halloween rolls around, they’ll be gone again, so we can’t make up our minds about whether this announcement feels more like a trick or a treat. Why can’t TBell keep our favorites on the menu forever?
While you might be bummed that these double-wrapped tacos are temporary, you’ll be happy to know that the price has dropped. Last December, the Double Deckers were priced at $2.99. This October, they’re priced at $2.
The Double Decker Taco Supreme is back as well, coming in at $2.69 versus last year’s $3.69.
What makes a Double Decker Taco so special?
The classic Double Decker Taco takes a hard shell taco filled with seasoned beef, lettuce and cheddar cheese and wraps it in a soft tortilla shell, with a layer of refried beans between them. The Double Decker Taco Supreme is built the same way, and then it’s topped with diced tomatoes and sour cream.
While we love making Taco Bell copycat recipes at home, we’re going to put the cooking on pause and run to the drive-thru while the Double Deckers last.
