Who doesn’t love a good late-night snack? Especially when it’s as simple as digging into a bowl of cereal while you curl up on the couch watching your favorite TV show. Yet if you find yourself having a hard time falling asleep at night, some foods can actually help—or hurt—your regular sleeping patterns. Thankfully, there are some foods on the market that are designed specifically for late-night snacking, such as Sweet Dreams Cereal.

What Is Sweet Dreams Cereal?

This innovative product is a ready-to-eat cereal that is made with wholesome ingredients that aid in giving you a good night of sleep. The cereal has an herbal blend of lavender and chamomile, as well as beneficial vitamins and minerals such as zinc, folic acid and B vitamins. This blend of herbs and nutrients is meant to support the natural production of melatonin, the hormone that helps put you to sleep at the end of the day.

The cereal comes in two different flavors: Sweet Dreams Blueberry Midnight, and Sweet Dreams Honey Moonglow. The Blueberry Midnight adds that blueberry flavor to the sleep blend of nutrients in your cereal, and the Honey Moonglow adds honey and vanilla instead.

While this does aid in your sleep routine and may seem like a healthier cereal, it’s important to keep in mind the nutrition information within a serving. One cup of Sweet Dreams cereal does include 16 grams of sugar, 13 of those coming from added sugars—which is 27% of your recommended intake according to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

On the other hand, this cereal does provide a surprising amount of your daily nutrient intake, including 80% of your niacin, 60% of your thiamine, 50% of your vitamin A and 30% of your vitamin E. You could even boost the nutrition in your bowl even more based on what you put in your cereal, like swapping milk with yogurt, adding fresh fruit or even sprinkling in some nuts. Research actually shows that milk and yogurt, as well as certain kinds of nuts (like walnuts, almonds, cashews, and pistachios), all help with getting quality sleep.

Needless to say, if you do love a good midnight snack and want something that will help you fall asleep, Sweet Dreams cereal could be a tasty sweet treat to supplement instead of your usual scoop of ice cream. Because what’s not to love about a cereal dessert?

Where Can I Get Sweet Dreams Cereal?

Sweet Dreams Cereal is made by Post Consumer Brands, the same company that manufactures other beloved cereals like Grape Nuts, Honey Bunches of Oats, Fruity Pebbles and Raisin Bran. The company’s website does have a store locator to help find the nearest place to buy a box in person, but it is also easily found at a few major retailers like Walmart and Instacart.
