People Are Making “Adult Pineapples” with Malibu Rum and Pineapple Spears

This has all the flavors of a tropical island—rum, coconut and pineapple. Count us in!

Ready to head to the islands this summer? OK, a tropical vacation may not be on everybody’s list. But people on TikTok have the perfect solution to bring a taste of the tropics to your home. Enter: boozy adult pineapples.

These pineapple spears soaked in Malibu rum are a seriously clever hack. It only takes two ingredients and a bit of patience to pull it off, and we can’t wait to enjoy them on their own, in a cocktail or even chilled as a dessert with a sprinkle of toasted coconut—the perfect solution for a tropical staycation!

How to Make Adult Pineapples

The beauty of this is that it only requires a few steps. To start, grab a jar of pineapple and drain the juice. (You can reserve the juice to use in other recipes, or add it to a rum cocktail!)

Then, pour the Malibu into the jar with the pineapple spears, filling it to the top, and put the lid back on. Put the jar in the fridge to allow the pineapple to soak up the rum overnight. Once the spears are fully infused, they’ll be ready for snacking. Just be sure you don’t leave the jar in the fridge longer than 24 hours or the texture might change too much.

According to TikTok genius @adaywithbee, you can find pineapple spears at Sam’s Club. However, if you can’t hunt them down, cutting a fresh pineapple into spears or cubes will do the trick.

We’re thinking we may need to try this with a huge variety of Malibu flavors throughout the summer!
