In terms of trying new flavors, Oreo certainly isn’t messing around this year. Wasabi Oreos? Check. Strawberry Shortcake Oreos? Check. Peppermint bark Oreos? Yep, yep, and yep. Between trying crazy new Oreo flavors, releasing a new candy bar, and even a fun dunking station, you’d think that Oreo has had enough experimenting to last them a lifetime. But it seems that the flavor antics aren’t coming to an end any time soon, especially with the release of a new classic cake flavor—Carrot cake!

Why carrot cake?
Surprisingly, the carrot cake flavor actually didn’t come from Oreo themselves. Carrot cake was a suggested flavor in Oreo’s My Oreo Creation contest last year. Nabisco (the company that owns Oreo) set up a contest and asked fans to think up some flavors for them to test. Some of these flavors included coffee, salted caramel, avocado, “galaxy,” nut n’ honey, cherry cola, raspberry danish, blueberry, popcorn, pineapple upside-down cake, and of course, carrot cake!
These suggestions came from fans through Twitter submissions using the #MyOreoCreation hashtag. Oreo even decided to create these flavors and send it to the fans who thought up the idea.
What does it look/taste like?
Although we have yet to try this Oreo creation, the carrot cake cookie is slightly different than the original My Oreo Creation made in 2017. This carrot cake Oreo will have carrot cake-flavored wafers with cream cheese filling, which is a very similar palate to our Old-Fashioned Carrot Cake recipe.
When will it be released?
This new Oreo flavor will be officially on shelves in time for Easter. I know, I know, that’s a pretty long time to wait and try this delicious cookie. But don’t worry—Easter will be here faster than you think!
