The One Thing You Need to Know About Newk’s Eatery, the South’s New Favorite Restaurant

From Mississippi to Florida, Newk's is capturing the fast-casual food scene. Here's why!

When it comes to creating affordable food that tastes good, Newk’s Eatery seems to be making quite a name for themselves! They have been described as a Southern-style Panera, which gives you some insight on the menu. (You really can’t beat classic Southern cooking.) But do a Google search for “condiments” and “Newk’s” and it becomes clear that’s where they’ve made their mark.

Yes—it’s true! Newk’s condiments have stolen our hearts and our tastebuds.

The Condiments, Explained

The condiment bar at Newk’s isn’t the typical set-up you might expect. In other words, it’s a long way from having a lonely ketchup bottle on the table! Newk’s Eatery actually refers to it as a “Roundtable,” and considers it the centerpiece of each restaurant. It offers the most amazing hand-cut and freshly prepared garnishes. Seriously! You will find roasted garlic in extra virgin olive oil, shaved parmesan, capers, imported pepperoncini, house-made croutons, plus their bread-and-butter pickles. (We’re very obsessed with pickles right now.)

If that isn’t enough—how could it not be enough?!—there’s a selection of hot sauces so you can add some zing to your meal.

Here’s What to Order

You can’t eat at the condiments Roundtable alone, so we’ve got some menu recommendations, too! You can always overindulge on a pimento cheese sandwich, chicken Alfredo pizza or mac and cheese. Plus, Newk’s has a dessert menu that can be described in one word as “awesome”—including lemon whoopie pie, caramel cake and chocolate cake. (We’re drooling at the thought!) They also have some unexpected items that you won’t find at the average casual restaurant. Think seared ahi tuna and a petite tenderloin, which is surprisingly good.

We think the Newk’s condiment Roundtable is a kick while eating out, but would also make an excellent addition to any dinner party you’re hosting at home—especially one that’s supper club-themed! (PsstHere’s the recipes you’ll want for that party.)
