I was blown away by many things when I visited Japan. The incredible history, beautiful architecture, stunning nature and of course, an incomparable food scene. But nothing was more shocking to me than the candy.

Every konbini (the Japanese term for convenience store) was stocked with a wider variety of candy than I had ever seen in the U.S. There were so many different treats to choose from. But what really surprised me was the American candy staples in flavors I had never seen before. I ate matcha- and cherry blossom-flavored Kit Kats almost every day—and brought plenty home.

There have always been international flavor and menu differences between snack offerings—just ask any Canadian about “all dressed” potato chips. But usually the only way to try these flavors is to book a plane ticket. Which is why it’s so exciting that Kit Kat is bringing an international fan-favorite flavor stateside for the first time.

What is the new Kit Kat flavor?

This holiday season just got way more jolly, because Peppermint Stick Kit Kats are on their way! This absolute banger of a flavor is beloved, but it has only ever been available in Australia. I really want to thank the good people at Hershey’s for saving me that 20-hour flight!

The Peppermint Stick Kit Kat is coated with a peppermint-flavored white chocolate. Adding an extra dose of festive color and crunch are tiny red and green candy pieces embedded in the coating. And don’t worry; they still have that iconic wafer inside the new, more joyful wrapping.

When is the new Kit Kat flavor available?

If you like to start celebrating the holidays as early as possible, then I have great news. The Peppermint Stick Kit Kats are hitting shelves now, and should be available throughout the holiday season. You can find them wherever you get your favorite candy—no plane tickets required.
