The Two Ingredients Meghan Markle Adds to Her Homemade Banana Bread
We were NOT expecting one of these.
It has been one heck of a year for Meghan Markle. She moved to England, married Prince Harry in May (and shared a unique royal wedding cake) and recently announced that she’s pregnant! Since announcing the pregnancy, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been on a 16-day royal tour, starting in Australia.
You’d think that this woman was busy enough, but somehow in her spare time, she was able to whip up a loaf of delicious banana bread. On her second day of the tour, Meghan showed up for a visit to a family farm and gave it as a gift. She baked it at the Australian governor-general’s house, where she and Harry stayed before heading to the farm.
So, what are her secret ingredients?
The first ingredient Meghan likes to throw in her banana bread isn’t much of a surprise: chocolate chips. Who doesn’t love delicious banana chocolate chip bread? Meghan obviously knows what’s up when it comes to making this delicious treat.
However, her second ingredient is a bit more surprising: ginger!
That’s right—the bread was reported to have chocolate chips and a hint of ginger in the mix, giving an unusual (yet delicious) twist to the classic treat.
The family LOVED it!
Meghan brought the bread to the Woodley family, and it was served alongside the rest of the treats for their visit.

“It was such a nice and thoughtful thing for her to do,” said Benita Woodley in an interview with the Daily Mail. “We are really touched.”
Benita also told the Daily Mail that Meghan was worried that there were too many bananas in the bread, but Harry responded that “there’s never too many bananas.” Family friends of the Woodleys gave Meghan’s bread “five stars” for being perfectly moist.
Luckily enough, Meghan’s banana bread is considered an OK food to eat while she’s pregnant. Nevertheless, until the baby arrives, Meghan Markle won’t be allowed to eat these foods. Thankfully she only has six months to go!
