When I first toured my tiny one-bedroom apartment, I made a major rookie mistake: I forgot to check how many outlets were in the kitchen! On move-in day, I learned the hard way that there was only one—and it was occupied by the stove and refrigerator.
If your kitchen has a similar problem, you’ll be as excited as I was to learn about KitchenAid’s new Cordless Collection. (Yep, you read that right—cordless!) Here’s what you need to know.
Psst! Did you hear the news about KitchenAid’s 2020 Color of the Year?
What Is the Cordless Collection?
This innovative group of appliances is exactly what it sounds like. The trusted brand behind our Test Kitchen’s favorite stand mixer has devised a set of appliances that don’t need to be plugged in.
“With the new Cordless Collection, the kitchen is no longer bound by outlets and plugs,” said Nikki Lockett, U.S. Marketing Leader for KitchenAid Small Appliances in a press release. “KitchenAid is transforming the kitchen by enabling makers to go cordless so they can cook whatever and however they choose.”
Just like your cell phone or other portable tools, the appliances do need to be regularly charged. But each gadget can go from an empty to full battery in just two hours—or less.
What Appliances Are Available?
The Cordless Collection includes three popular kitchen appliances, each available in seven crafted colors.
Also known as an immersion blender, this handy tool makes it easy to whip up smoothies, dips and other pureed foods. On a full charge, you can blend 25 bowls of soup. However, we’re most excited to bring this baby outside and blend up frozen drinks on the patio!
A kitchen must-have, this chopper can mix, puree and whisk with ease. It features two speeds so you’re always in complete control, and, on a full charge, it can chop up to 40 onions. Phew! Use ’em in our favorite red onion recipes.
Every home baker knows how important a hand mixer is when whipping up cookies, cakes and other sweet treats. This cordless mixer—which can mix dough for up to 200 cookies on a full charge—has seven speeds and a “Soft Start” feature that ensures your ingredients stay in the bowl.
