On April 24, 2018, Joanna Gaines released her new cookbook Magnolia Table, filled with a ton of her all-time favorite recipes. We know they include some delicious chocolate chip cookies, which is one of the six foods Joanna craves during her pregnancy. Those cookies certainly look delicious, but it’s the description of those cookies that have us fan-girling over Joanna Gaines all over again.
Long story short, Joanna loves butter. The Kitchn published the Magnolia Table Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe, and in the recipe’s summary Joanna writes that she truly believes that “butter makes everything better.” She makes this point because, surprisingly, she uses a smaller amount of butter in this recipe.
Joanna’s love affair with butter
“I developed this recipe over the years, after experimenting with a few classics and having them come out flat every time,” she wrote. “I wanted something that was chunky, beautiful, and also delicious. In the end, one big change I made was to cut back on the butter. I do truly believe that butter makes everything better and no one is more surprised than I am about how amazing these taste even though they’re made with less of the good stuff than most traditional chocolate chip cookies.”
Butter is not only a highlight in her cookbook but also at her new restaurant Magnolia Table. Located in Waco, Texas (where you will find Silos, i.e. where Magnolia is), Magnolia Table was opened by Joanna and her husband Chip. They serve a plethora of delicious plates, including Jo’s buttermilk biscuits with strawberry butter. The also serve Lemon Lavender Donut Holes, which Joanna probably also loves, since it’s her go-to birthday treat.
Joanna may hold back on the butter in her recipe, but we certainly don’t. These Big & Buttery Chocolate Chip Cookies will satisfy all of your buttery-pastry dreams.
