How to Make Bacon Dog Treats
Ingredients
- 3 slices bacon (including grease)
- 1 banana
- 1 egg
- 1-1/2 cups oat flour

- Rolling pin: Like cookies for humans, you’ll need a rolling pin to achieve an even layer of dough to cut out.
- Cookie cutters: You could use regular cookie cutters, but this bone-shaped set is too cute to pass up for your pup.
- Baking sheet: Nonstick baking pans will be your best bet for a mess-free cleanup when baking treats for your pet.
Directions
Step 1: Cook and chop bacon
Cook the bacon until it’s nice and crispy; it’ll be easier to crumble this way. Render as much fat out as possible.
Step 2: Mash the banana
The riper the banana, the easier it’ll be to mash. Use a fork or a potato masher to break up the banana in a medium bowl.
Step 3: Mix in egg, bacon and grease
In the same bowl, add a lightly beaten egg, crumbled bacon and the grease from cooking. Be careful not to burn yourself—the grease will be hot!
Step 4: Gradually add in oat flour
If you don’t have oat flour, you can make your own in one step. Use a blender or food processor to chop 1-1/2 cups of old-fashioned oats until it reaches a flour consistency. Add the oat flour to the wet ingredients 1/2 cup at a time, combining after each addition. You may not need all the flour; keep adding until the dough is no longer wet, and has reached a consistency you can roll into a sheet.
Step 5: Roll into a sheet and cut into shapes
On a floured surface, use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into a sheet about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. For less mess, you can roll out your dough between two sheets of parchment paper instead.
Cut out cookies. Re-roll and cut more cookies as needed.
Step 6: Bake, cool and serve
Place treats on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 15-18 minutes, until golden-brown. Cool, then treat your pooch.
