Hot Dog and Hamburger Buns Recalled Due to Concerns of Listeria and Salmonella

It’s the season for weekend cookouts, which means that we’re all buying burgers and hot dogs. Of course, you can’t finish the meal without hamburger and hot dog buns. Unfortunately, Hostess announced a recall of its hamburger and hot dog buns on August 13 because of concerns related to listeria and salmonella.
The affected products were sent to convenience stores and retail stores throughout the United States, so it’s definitely worth checking any Hostess buns in your kitchen. Then, plan to make hot dog buns and hamburger buns from scratch.
What Products Have Been Recalled?
Hostess Soft White Hamburger Buns and Hostess Soft White Hot Dog Buns have been recalled so far, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella bacteria. Hostess’ co-manufacturer, Best Harvest Bakeries, detected the issue.
No illnesses have been reported so far, but Hostess chose to recall its products as a precaution.
How Do I Know If I Bought One of These Products?
Hostess has released the Item No., Batch ID and Best By dates of the possibly contaminated products. You can also look at product photos on the FDA’s recall announcement.

If you recently bought Hostess Soft White Hamburger Buns or Soft White Hot Dog Buns, toss them immediately. You can also return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. If you have any questions, visit www.hostesscakes.com or contact the company at 1-800-483-7253.
Since Best Harvest Bakeries only produces specific products for Hostess, no other products from the brand have been affected, including bread and bagel products. You can still eat those Key Lime Pie CupCakes, too.
