How to Make an Easy Honey Hand Treatment

To get silky, supple hands, look no further than a few simple pantry ingredients.
If winter has been harsh on your hands, never fear. This sweet mixture of kitchen staples will leave your skin feeling as smooth as a cream pie. In addition to being good to eat, these ingredients are also kind to your skin.
About the Ingredients
Rolled Oats
Ground rolled oats act as a gentle exfoliator. They’re also moisturizing, soothing, anti-inflammatory and non-irritating to most skin types. (You can grind rolled oats in a blender, food processor or by hand with a mortar and pestle.)
Honey
Honey is packed with antioxidants that can slow the signs of aging. Plus, it’s moisturizing and soothing, creating a healthy glow and making hands feel smoother.
Lemon Juice
The citric acid in lemon juice can help lighten discoloration and fade dark spots when used regularly, making your skin look brighter and younger.
Brown Sugar
The glycolic acid in sugar acts as a natural skin peel, sloughing off dead cells and accelerating skin cell turnover. Brown sugar is finer than white sugar and easier on sensitive skin such as hands and face.
DIY Honey Hand Scrub
- 1 Tbsp. raw honey
- 1 Tbsp. ground rolled oats
- 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. fine brown sugar
Step 1: Combine the Ingredients
In a small bowl, mix raw honey, ground oats, fresh lemon juice and fine brown sugar until well blended.
Step 2: Apply
Holding your hands over the sink, apply half the mixture and massage it in for one minute. Leave the mixture on for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Rinse
Wash off with warm water followed by a cool rinse.
Store remaining mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Apply twice weekly. This recipe makes 2 applications.
