A Harry Potter Christmas village combines the magic of miniature, highly detailed holiday houses with iconic spots from the Wizarding World. While your grandparents may have had a Christmas village embodying the North Pole or Charles Dickens’ universe, today’s options include scenes from pop culture. If Harry Potter isn’t your thing, you can also find officially licensed collections featuring the Grinch, Peanuts characters and Disney, among others.
Now, there are two main players in the Harry Potter Christmas village space: Department 56 and The Bradford Exchange. Each collection offers a mix of iconic buildings, character miniatures and accessories. While some collectors only want a specific brand, there’s no rule saying you can’t mix and match.
Department 56 allows you to shop piece by piece and issues new releases every year. Act fast, though, as certain pieces can sell out quickly or retire from production. The Bradford Exchange works on a subscription model, issuing each piece in separate installments. You’ll receive a new issue, generally once a month, for as long as your subscription is active.
