Summer is on its way out and all things pumpkin are about to take over. Starbucks has already rolled out the PSL for the season, and your favorite retailers are no doubt gearing up for the next big holiday. That’s right—it’s time to get spooky for Halloween.
If you thought decorating cookie houses was reserved for gingerbread, you’d be mistaken. This year, deck out your costume bash with Halloween cookie houses from Amazon and Target that are as tasty as they are terrifying.
They Really Are a Scream
With Halloween cookie house kits, you don’t have to wait until December to decorate your own crumbly home. Like gingerbread kits, all of your building materials are included. In one kit, you’ll typically find fondant, icing, decorative candy and instructions for first-timers. The included cookie walls and roof are pre-baked and ready for construction (and it doesn’t hurt to enjoy a nibble or two when nobody’s looking).
As for ingredients, most cookies kits contain milk, soy and wheat. Each kit should be kept in a dry location until it’s time to crack open those haunting Halloween decorations.
The date of Halloween may be changing—here’s why.
No Tricks—They’re Available Right Now!
You don’t have to wait until October to get your hands on these kits. Halloween cookie house kits from Hyde and Eek! are already available at Target, and you have a couple of homes to choose from. You can get the haunted mansion and the complementary ghostly graveyard for $10 each. If you’re looking for something for super small tots, Target’s also got a mini chocolate Halloween cookie kit for just $2.99.
You can find larger kits from Wilton on Amazon that cost a bit more at around $30, but they’re twice as tasty. If you have plans to decorate with your little monsters this Halloween, now’s the time to order.
Don’t want to shell out for a kit this year? Put these gingerbread house building tips to the test and construct your own haunted mansion from scratch.
