When it comes to things we love, Dolly Parton is pretty high up on the list. It’s not just her great taste in Southern food—she’s just all-around amazing! The only thing that could make her more wonderful is somehow combining her with Taco Bell’s famous Mexican Pizza—and believe it or not, that’s exactly what’s happening.
Taco Bell has been on a roll, first removing and then adding back fan-favorite items like Nacho Fries. Then, after a huge announcement that the Mexican Pizza is finally coming back, Taco Bell followed up with the news about Mexican Pizza: The Musical. This show is packed full of some amazing talent!
What to Expect from Mexican Pizza: The Musical
Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza has been a beloved item on the menu since it came out in 1985, and fans were devastated when it was removed in 2020. Its return was called for across the internet, with petitions from the masses and even mentions by celebrities. Dolly Parton admitted it was one of her favorites in an interview, while singer Doja Cat made whole TikTok video about it:
What really kicked things off was a TikTok video by creator @victor.kunda, who imagined what Mexican Pizza: The Musical by Doja Cat might look like. The video, obviously, went viral across the internet and Taco Bell seems to have heard the call!
According to Taco Bell, the new film is “a satirical musical about the ‘harrowing’ story of those who fought to bring back the Mexican Pizza” and will feature original music. So far, Doja Cat and Dolly Parton are associated with the project, which will also feature Victor Kunda and music from Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, who earlier this year won the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album for The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical. TV writer and comedian Hannah Friedman wrote the script for the show, and it seems set to be the release of the season!
Where Can I Watch It?
The show will premiere right where it all began: on TikTok. You can watch this musical on May 26 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. We’ll be glued to our phones with the rest of the nation—with Mexican Pizza by our side, of course!
And hey, if this menu item sells out near you, you can always make your own Mexican Pizza.
