It’s summer! In other words, it’s the season of frozen cocktails. And with temps soaring, there’s never been a time we’ve needed an icy drink more than right now. Everyone appreciates the help of a refreshing beverage to beat the heat—including our dogs.
If you adore frozen margaritas, and love pampering your pup, then you need to whip up a dog-friendly Pawgerita ASAP. (That’s right, this dog margarita even has a name.)
What Is a Dog Margarita?
ⓘ
For starters, this drink is not a real margarita and does not contain alcohol. Think of it more like a mocktail for pups. This dog-friendly drink is packed with ingredients safe for canine consumption and flavors that will have them barking for more.
How to Make Dog-Friendly Margaritas
This viral recipe from popular dog TikTok @ryderthedal offers a quick and easy dog margarita recipe to make for your pup. Ryder the dalmatian’s owner, Sandra, explains the instructions step by step. Here’s how to make one!

Ingredients
- Cucumber
- Lactose-free yogurt or applesauce
- Bone broth
- Ice
- Optional: Crushed up treats and/or kibble
Psst:Â You can also make frozen dog treats with banana, peanut butter and yogurt.
Directions
Step 1: Blend the ingredients
In a blender, combine cucumber slices, ice, bone broth and yogurt or applesauce (all of which are safe for dogs!) and blend. Make sure you blend the ingredients until they reach a smooth consistency.
Step 2: Prepare a margarita glass
If you have a margarita glass, you can easily dress up this Pawgerita for your pup. All you’ll need is to dip the glass rim in yogurt. Then, crush dog treats or kibble into crumbs, place the crumbs on a dish and roll the glass rim in it. The crumbs will easily stick to the yogurt-covered rim.
You can even add a cucumber on the side of the glass for more pup pizzazz!
Step 3: Pour and serve!
From there, all you need to do is pour the blender contents into the margarita glass and it’s ready to serve! Like dog mom Sandra says in her viral TikTok video, “enjoy mother puppers, because it’s 5 o’clock somewhere!”
The Pawgerita isn’t the only iconic beverage your dog can indulge in. Keep an eye out for fast-food chains with a secret dog menu, like Starbucks puppuccino.
