What time is ice cream time? All the time. Well, maybe not for every flavor.
It’s hard to say no to ice cream. And with good reason, you know? We tend to keep a lot of sweet, nostalgic memories of childhood classics—and ice cream is definitely up there!
We all know Dairy Queen does soft serve better than anyone, especially when the cones are dipped. Which is why it’s extra heartbreaking to see the departure of one of the chain’s most beloved dipped cones. A fruity favorite, in particular.
The Dairy Queen Cherry Dipped Cone Has Been Discontinued
This Cherry Dipped Cone has been on and off the menu at Dairy Queen over the past couple of years, so it’s no surprise to hear it’s leaving the menu once again. The flavor has a pretty dedicated fan base, so whenever the cherry dip appeared at a location, let’s just say it took off. The cones are crunchy, sweet and creamy—all in one bite! I bet the bright candy apple red coloring helped too.
Sadly, as many menu items do, the Cherry Dipped Cone is once again disappearing. TikTok creator @dqshelbytwpmi broke the upsetting news to DQ fans in a video that has already accumulated 4.7 million views and over 380,000 likes. “I feel like a lot of people will be upset about this,” Miranda, the account’s creator, says in the video. “Dairy Queen is discontinuing their cherry cone dip.”
Although, this isn’t the first DQ Dipped Cone to disappear and reappear again and again. In the past few years, we’ve seen the discontinuation and return of the Cotton Candy and Dreamsicle Dipped Cones.
Much to fans’ dismay, there’s no exact confirmation if the Cherry Dipped Cones will return. However, according to Dairy Queen, while the news is sad, there may be hope that this won’t be the last sighting of the cones. “DQ is always rotating our dipped cone flavors and Cherry Dipped Cones may return in the future,” DQ says in a statement.
Additionally, the chain adds that “fans should check with their local DQ restaurant to learn which flavors are available.” Nonetheless, we’ll continue to keep our fingers crossed for the day we can finish off a sweet treat with a little cherry on top once again.
Two mouthwatering burger patties stacked high with toppings like melted cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard. Our smash burger recipe is just like DQ's Original Signature Stackburger—and maybe even better.
These rich chocolate peanut butter shakes will make you feel as if you're sitting in your local Dairy Queen. But since you're the one whipping it up, you can add as many Reese's cups as you heart desires!
Serve up warm pretzel sticks straight from the oven. Don't forget the cheese sauce! To make it zesty just like DQ's, add diced jalapenos and green chiles.
You don't have to be a baker to make this ice cream cake for your next celebration! This ice cream cake recipe is inspired by the DQ classic—made with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, chocolate ganache and a thick layer of chocolate cookie crumbles.

Serve up this classic Dairy Queen staple at home! We promise it's not as intimidating as it looks. Top scoops of your favorite vanilla ice cream with sauce, whipped cream, strawberry slices and bananas. Sprinkle a few nuts on top for good measure, too.
A simple scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with strawberry jam makes for the perfect treat. We like adding a handful of chocolate chips and chopped nuts to our sundae.
No matter what the temperature is outside, there's nothing quite like a cool strawberry shake to finish a meal. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream for the finishing touch.
Yup, we even have a copycat recipe for DQ's latest (and limited time) release: their Mint Chip Shake! Ours even uses up a handful of Thin Mints...talk about yum.
Our hot fudge sauce always turns out smooth and yummy—just like DQ's. The dark chocolate flavor, with a hint of rum extract, is not overly sweet but will still satisfy a chocoholic's cravings when served over vanilla ice cream.
